NATURAL FORM TRANSLATION

Turn the growth relationship of a mushroom into wearable form

Dao Fa Zi Ran does not copy the outer silhouette of a mushroom onto jewelry. It extracts a growth relationship from nature: an outer shell protects a core, a rounded volume appears through an opening, and the form holds both shelter and the possibility of outward growth.

The series develops one shared formal language across pendants and rings, allowing the natural reference to become a collection that can be worn, combined, and discovered at close range.

01 / OBSERVE NATURE

Extract a growth relationship from the mushroom

The most useful design clue in a mushroom is not simply the cap or stem, but the relationship between enclosure, support, exposure, and growth. The design compresses that relationship into a hollow shell, a rounded core, and a subtly asymmetric silhouette, keeping a trace of nature's uncertainty.

02 / ABSTRACT THE FORM

Translate natural form into a jewelry language

The shell becomes a stable wearable frame, while a dark sphere or metal core becomes the center that is both protected and revealed. Warm wood-like volume contrasts with the dark core, giving each pendant and ring clear layers and a recognizable focal point at palm scale.

03 / BUILD THE COLLECTION

Bring one form into different ways of wearing

The pendant uses suspension to emphasize the opening and downward movement; the ring brings the same shell and core into the scale of a finger. They are not simple size variations. Each uses a different body position, movement, and viewing distance to create a distinct experience from the same natural motif.

04 / DESIGN METHOD

Design principles

The mushroom jewelry series establishes three ways to move from natural inspiration to product:

  • Study the relationship behind a natural form instead of copying its outline
  • Use shell, core, and negative space to build a formal language that can scale, combine, and be worn
  • Let product imagery explain form, wearing method, and natural context at the same time
